On the morning of December 12, 2015, while surrounded by family at Merit Health River Region hospital in Vicksburg, Wayne Gray left this earth to be with the Lord. He was 72.

Wayne was born on May 13, 1943, in Vicksburg to Luther Hunter Gray and Dottie Inez Gray. He was one of four children and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving family, Ann Gray, Dusty Gray, Donna Gray, Danielle Gray, Aaron Moates, Brad Davidson, Christy Davidson, Kelsey Davidson, Bradi Davidson, Frank Segree, Yolanda Segree, Chandler Davidson; and sister, Martha Ann Bearden.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Luther Hunter Gray; mother, Dottie Inez Gray; sister, Lelia Mae Francis; brother-in-law, Bob Francis; and brother, James Drew Gray

Wayne spent the majority of his working career at Letourneau Inc. in Vicksburg. He worked many roles throughout his successful 43 years there. He retired in 2009 as a Production Control Supervisor. His most notable achievement during this time was growing a positive relationship with a large group of friends that evolved into his extended family. Wayne loved to keep everyone smiling and was well known for his stories that he would tell to keep the smiles going. When he wasn’t working, Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman. He would spend weeks at the deer camp, where he again kept the smiles going. He enjoyed anything that involved being outside with friends.

Wayne was a loving and caring husband. He was an awesome father. Most of all however, Wayne was an incredible grandfather. There was nothing that made Wayne smile better than spending time being the best “Paw Paw” you could ask for. For the last decade of his time on earth this was truly his passion.

Services for Luther Wayne Gray will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m.
