Herbert Frank Poole Sr.

Herbert Frank Poole Sr. died peacefully Dec. 15, 2015, at home surrounded by family. He was 86.

Born Aug. 10, 1929 in Columbus, he grew up in the Bovina area. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a farmer, truck driver and carpenter, finally retiring from the city of Vicksburg after 22 years of faithful service as the superintendent of the sewer department.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Anneice Buford Poole; his parents, Herbert A. Poole and Martha Lauderdale Poole; and five brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by one son, Herbert “Herby” Poole Jr. (Nita) of Vicksburg; two daughters, Anna Leigh Buford and Susan L. Poole of Jackson; five grandchildren, Herbert F. Poole III (Jennifer), Nicholas E. Poole (Jamie) and Dorothy A. Poole of Vicksburg, Brandy Poole Cooper (Chad) of Great Lakes, Ill., and Anna C. Ford of Jackson; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Mae McLeod of Crystal Springs and Juanita Serberling (Dale) of Des Moines, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating.

Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Herbert F. Poole Jr., Herbert F. Poole III, Nicholas E. Poole, Buddy Poole, Sidney Guest and Mike Wicker.
