The Vicksburg Post welcomed Dixon Stone to the newspaper’s newsroom staff earlier this month.
Stone, a student at The University of Mississippi, will be working at The Post as an intern through early January. He will work with special projects and help covering news throughout Vicksburg and Warren County.
“It’s an amazing opportunity that the Post has offered me, with a chance for me to really build a great resume,” said Stone, a native of Vicksburg. “Overall, I am just grateful that I can count on my hometown to support me in my endeavors.”
Stone is a freshman and a contributing writer for The Daily Mississippian, the university’s student newspaper.
Vicksburg Post editor Jan Griffey said Stone has already been a tremendous help in the newsroom.
“We are so happy to have Dixon here during his Christmas break from Ole Miss,” she said. “He’s simply a joy to have around, and his eager enthusiasm is infectious. He’s a talented young man who, as a Vicksburg native of Vicksburg, has brought us historic knowledge of the community, too. We’re lucky to have him here.”
Post publisher Tim Reeves said bringing on Stone
“In addition to our core mission of serving the Vicksburg and Warren County community, we have an obligation to seek out and offer an opportunity like this to young, talented journalists like Dixon,” Post publisher Tim Reeves said.
