Mary Ruth Kerns

Mary Ruth Kerns died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 68.

Mary Ruth was born in West Point, April 25, 1947, to Clarence Boyce and Willie Belle Barham. She married Richard E. Kerns on Nov. 23, 1973, and enjoyed 42 years of marriage.

Ruth loved attending church, collecting photos of family and friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was known and loved by all; she exemplified humility and shared love with all.

Ruth was a lifetime resident of Mississippi and was a member of the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Johnathan Mark Kerns; sisters, Cleola Siden and Irene Hester; and half-brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Kerns Sr. of Vicksburg; her sons, Richard Kerns Jr. and his wife Valori of Brookhaven and Michael Kerns and his partner, Christa Beasnett of Vicksburg; her daughter, Rhonda Arnold and husband Roger of Vicksburg; her brother, Boyce Barham and his wife, Loraine of Hernando, Fla.; her grandchildren Zack Kerns, Tristan Stephens, Dallas Arnold, Bailey Arnold, Mirracle Patterson and Trip Patterson; and nieces and nephews including Joseph and Starla Steber, Javon and Misty Jones and Mike and Tara Cockman.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg with the Rev. John Parks Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Richard Kerns Sr., Richard Kerns Jr., Michael Kerns, Zack Kerns, Raymond Edwards and Toby Parks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Arnold, Boyce Barham, Dallas Arnold, Alan Kerns and Dennis Kerns.
