2 homes, car destroyed in South Street fire

- TRAGEDY: A fire reported at 3 a.m. Friday on the 1600 block of South Street destroyed two homes and a vehicle while damaging another home and vehicle. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Homes and vehicles were destroyed and damaged by fire Friday morning.
The homes and vehicles on the 1600 block of South Street caught fire around 3 a.m. Friday morning, Capt. Bill Lewis at Central Fire Station said.
The fire started at one home that was fully engulfed with flames and spread to other homes and vehicles nearby, Lewis said.
Two homes and one vehicle were a total loss from the fire and one other home and vehicle suffered damage, Lewis said. One of the homes lost in the fire was vacant and the other was occupied, he said.
Station 2 and Station 6 responded to the call with members of Central Station helping relieve them, and the fire was completely extinguished around 8 a.m., Lewis said. To his knowledge no one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
