Funeral services for Gwendolyn Leola “Lil Sister” Spencer will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Dr. Joe N. Mosley will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Spencer died December 30, 2015, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 90.

Born in Vicksburg, she retired as a cook with Kuhn Memorial Hospital after 44 years.

Preceding her on death were her parents, Jesse James and Leola Spencer Jones; three brothers, Abe Watson, Robert Spencer and Isaiah Moody; three sisters, Annie Spencer Brown, Hazel Spencer Woods and Eliza Jones King.

Survivors include one son, Roy A. James of Vicksburg; one brother, Lawrence Jones Sr. of Gulfport; eight grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives including Betty James of Vicksburg and the Walker, Williams, Spencer, James, Watson and Tooma families.

Active pallbearers are Roy James Jr., Terrance James, Clyde Harris Jr., Johnny Loving, Milton Tooma, and Anthony McCloud Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Roy Brown, Lawrence Jones Sr., Henderson King Sr., Henderson King Jr. and Anthony McCloud Sr.
