Michael Van Horne died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015. He was 53.

He was born April 7, 1962, in Fort Ord, Calif. to Charles Leon and the late Elizabeth (Straughter) Horne.

Mr. Van Horne attended Noche Buena and Manzanita Elementary schools, Martin Luther King Junior High School, and graduated from Monterey High School in 1980 before enlisting in the United States Army.

He completed his basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. and was assigned Fort Ord.

After his discharge he received a Bachelors of Science degree from California State University Fresno. He was a financial analyst for several companies in northern California, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Seaside.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth; and an older brother, Carl Leon Horne.

Survivors include his father, Charles Leon Horne; three sisters, Carolyn Horne Brandford, Michele Horne and Pamela J Cooper; nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
