Mattie Nadine Rozier was born Oct. 25, 1937. She entered heavens gates surrounded by her family on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Vicksburg. She was 78.
Born in Yazoo City, she was the daughter of the late George William Smith Sr. and Lyda Harrell Smith.
She and her husband moved to Vicksburg in the mid-fifties where they made their home and started their successful business, Rozier Plumbing, in the late 1970s.
An ideal mother and grandmother, Nadine was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large collection of cookbooks but didn’t use them much because she was a “pinch of this and a dash of that” kind of cook.
Nadine had an unwavering faith in God. Through this faith she found her calling within hospice volunteering and sitting as a caregiver with families.
She is survived by her daughters, Anita (Jessie) Thomas, Teresa (Sonny) Jones and Kim (Glenn) Kittrell all of Vicksburg; siblings, Maxine Douglas, William (Billy) Smith, Linda Smith, Harrell Smith and Don Smith; grandchildren, Misty Jabour, Jullianna Jones and Matelyn (Mattie) Jones, all of Vicksburg, Candace (Candi) Bogle of Brandon, Haley Murphy of Eupora, Glenn Kittrell Jr. of Edwards; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Alvin Rozier, and siblings, Helen (baby sister) Gordon, Robert (Sonny) Smith and sister-in-law Martha Smith.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Glenwood Chapel, and burial will take place at Redbone United Methodist Church on Redbone Road.
