Callahan, Gaskin lead VHS past Madison Central

Karry Callahan and Keiyana Gaskin each had a double-double, and the Vicksburg Missy Gators held off Madison Central to win 51-47 on Tuesday night.

Callahan posted her ninth consecutive double-double, finishing with 19 points and 18 rebounds. She also had five assists, four steals and four blocked shots.

Gaskin finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Pleasure King had five points and seven rebounds for VHS.

Mimi Bishop led Madison Central (7-8) with 15 points and Christina Rouser scored 13.

Vicksburg (9-8) pulled above .500 and won for just the second time in its last seven games. It will play back-to-back division home games Friday against Neshoba Central and next Tuesday against Lanier.

(B) Madison Central 68, Vicksburg 44

K.J. Murphy scored 10 points and Kirk Parker had nine, but it wasn’t nearly enough for Vicksburg’s boys basketball team as it was demolished by Madison Central (8-4).

The Gators (7-8) lost for the fifth time in six games.
