The News-Star filed an open records request with ULM to get the list of applicants. It took nearly a month for the request to be branded, and a story was published online Wednesday evening (thenewsstar.com/story/sports/college/ulm/2016/01/13/former-cu-coach-hawkins-among-applicants-ulm-job/78719936/)

Several candidates, including the Vicksburg native Hopson, had Mississippi ties.

Bogalusa High School head coach Norman Joseph, another Vicksburg native who also coached at Belhaven University and Mississippi College, was on the list. So were West Georgia head coach Will Hall, a Mississippi native; Mississippi State co-offensive coordinator John Hevesy; East Central Community College head coach Ken Karcher; East Mississippi Community College head coach Buddy Stephens; Southeastern Louisiana and former Delta State head coach Ron Roberts; Eastern Illinois head coach Kim Dameron, a former Ole Miss assistant; and former Southern Miss offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, who has since taken the same job at Arizona State.
