Mrs. Viola Gaines Scott died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 94.

She was born to the late Alfred and Lucille Gaines on Oct. 10, 1921, in Lorman.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Scott Jr.; son, Harold Reginald Scott; six sisters and four brothers.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of King David #2 under the leadership of the Rev. Johnny L. Williams.

Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Banks of Lorman, Ethel Davis of Salinas, Calif. and Loretta Brantley of Vicksburg; son, Danny Scott of Stone Mountain, Ga.; sister, Dorothy Spencer of Atcison, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Word of Faith Christian Center, 3525 Wisconsin Ave., with the Rev. Reginald Walker officiating and the Rev. Johnny L. Williams, eulogist. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, from 1 until 6 p.m. with family hour from 5 to 6 p.m.
