Funeral services for Carrie Reynolds will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Reynolds died Wednesday, Jan. 27 in the Vicksburg Convalescent Home following a brief illness. She was 90.
She was born June 23, 1925, to the late George and Annie Reynolds in Myersville.
She had a career in banking at Merchants Bank in Vicksburg. She was one of the first African American tellers. After retirement, she devoted her time to Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She served as president of the choir, Sunday school and
Mothers Board. She was a member of Tyner-Ford Post 213 American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the
Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club where she served as financial secretary from its beginning until her health begin to fail three years ago.
Survivors include her aunt, Ms. Alfreeda Marshall of Little Rock, Ark.; three godsons, Darwin Shields, Robert Shields, and Mikhail Abdulbaaqee; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
