Missy Gators fall against Neshoba Central 50-47

Relissia Ray and Taylor Ben put up 13 points apiece for Neshoba Central (12-9, 3-2 Region 4 5A) in a 50-47 win over the Vicksburg Missy Gators (10-12, 1-4).

Karry Callahan and Micha Williams scored in double figures with 14 and 11 respectively. Callahan grabbed 15 rebounds, two assists with a team-high four blocks and Williams earned nine points from behind the arc.

Keyiana Gaskin had a solid all-around performance with eight points and 10 rebounds. Kamina Carter followed Callahan and Gaskin with five rebounds as well.

The Lady Rockets were able to take a 28-22 lead at halftime, but after holding them to just eight points in the first quarter, Vicksburg allowed 20 points in the second.

While Vicksburg was only a point shy of tying Neshoba Centrals third quarter point total at seven, the 20 point second quarter was enough damage to put the Missy Gators at a 35-28 disadvantage heading into the fourth.

Vicksburg did outscore the Neshoba Central 19-15 in the final quarter with six points from Callahan and Carter, Gaskin and Monique Jones combined for an additional six points. Williams contributed a three-pointer and Leslee Toole scored her four points in that stretch.

Neshoba Central scored 50 points off of 14 made field goals while Vicksburg scored 47 on 13. Vicksburg did have the advantage over Neshoba Central sinking five 3s to Neshoba’s three.

 

(B) Neshoba Central 69, Vicksburg 47

Joe Thomas scored 11 points and Raheam Moore scored 10 in Vicksburg’s (8-13, 2-3 Region 4 5A) loss to the Rockets (21-2, 4-1) Friday night. The win for the Rockets extends their win streak to four games while the Gators continue on a three-game slid.
