Mahala Lowe Taylor

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mahala Lowe Taylor was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Edwards to the late Sylvester and Priscilla (Irving) Lowe, but raised in Vicksburg. Her education included graduation from Bowman High School and attending Alcorn College.
She married Clifton Taylor Sr. in 1947 and relocated to Memphis. From their union, three sons were born, Melvin, Clifton Jr. and Everett.
She departed this life on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Clifton Taylor Jr.; grandson, Darryl Taylor; sisters, Priscilla Moore, Amy Loving and Perry Steward; brothers, Harrison Lowe Sr., LaSalle Lowe, James Lowe, Eddie Lowe, Adolphus Lowe, Elbert Lowe, Sylvester Lowe Jr. and Jasper Lowe.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Melvin (Gayle) Taylor and Everett (Meridth)Taylor; two sisters, Odessa Elmore and Opsy Dorsey of Vicksburg; two daughters-in-law, Lavorne Taylor and Jerri Taylor; one play daughter, Helen (John) Lester; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins family, in-laws and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Greater White Stone M.B. Church, Memphis.Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Greater White Stone M.B. Church, Memphis. Interment will be in New Park Cemetery.
