PORT GIBSON — Charles E. Sewell died Thursday, Jan. 14, at his resident. He was 80.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at King David Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Percy Terrell officiating.
Burial will be in the Jennings Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Sewell was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Mae Sewell; his wife, Cordelia Jennings-Sewell; and a sister, Lorretta Mitchell.
He is survived by five daughters, Portia Davis, Antoinette Williams-Skinner and Rosie Bevily, all of Port Gibson, Angela Sewell and Gayle Sewell, both of Detroit; a sister, Deborah Simmons, of Southfield, Mich.; a brother, Stanley Sewell of Detroit; an aunt, Thelma Saunders of Detroit; two uncles, Stancil Sewell of Detroit and Cape Sewell of Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including a special grandson, Ivory J. Williams of Port Gibson.
