Violet “Pug” Franco

Violet “Pug” Franco died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at her residence.

Born in Winnsboro, La., she was the daughter of the late Otis Ferguson and Lissie Brister Ferguson. A lifetime resident of Vicksburg “Pug” was a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Kuhn Memorial Hospital after working with several local hospitals.She was a member of the BPOE #95 Ladies Auxiliary, a past president of the local chapter of the “Red Hats” and a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Franco Wallace and Marea Franco Stuckey (Joey); two sons, Raphael Franco Jr. (Kelly) and Sam Franco (Sheila); seven grandchildren, Robert Lee Franco, Casey Glanzer, Eddie Smith, Molleigh Wallace, Miele Hudspeth, Calli Stuckey and Gabriel Stuckey; one great grandson, Sanders Glanzer; and four sisters, Lula Ann Bryant, Cecil Taylor, Carrie Mae Chevalier and Espie Lee Powell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Franco Sr. and sister, Marie Wilson.

A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Tom Lolar as celebrant. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Vicksburg Catholic School and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Pallbearers will be family members.
