On Valentine’s Day, the Center For Pregnancy Choices launched its Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser with the theme “Hello my Name is Love.”
Several of the local churches were involved with the launching, the executive director of the CPC Priscilla Black said.
Those churches include Berachah Church, Bovina Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Crossway Church, Elevate Church, First Baptist Vicksburg, First Church of the Nazarene, Gibson Memorial UMC, Hawkins UMC, Highland Baptist Church, Oakland Baptist Church, Porters Chapel Academy, St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Paul Catholic Church, Trinity Baptist Church, Triumph Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Woodlawn Baptist, and Word of Faith Church.
“The idea of Baby Bottle Boomerang is that the center would throw out empty baby bottles to community members, and they will boomerang back,” Black said, filled with cash, change and or checks.
Money received from the fundraiser will go toward funding the many services offered through the CPC, and although the central goal of the organization is to provide support to women experiencing unplanned pregnancies, they also offer services to mothers, children and families.
“The medical services we provide are all free and include pregnancy test, limited ultrasound and prenatal vitamins. Prenatal and parenting classes are provided to clients to help support them through education on parenting and pregnancy,” Black said.
Clients who complete classes offered at the CPC can earn money to shop at the center’s baby boutique, Black said, which includes diapers, baby clothes from new born through 2T, blankets, bibs, bottles, maternity clothes and other donated baby/maternity items.
“If a woman or family comes consistently to 40 classes in a one year period, they are rewarded with a brand new car seat,” Black said.
On-site counseling is also offered to clients who need emotional and relational support. “The CPC is pro-life,” Black said and will work directly with adoption agencies when needed.
Bottles for the fundraiser are available at the CPC, 1401 Adams St. and office hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
