Constance L. Malone

Constance Luvern Malone died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Health System. She was 70.
Mrs. Malone was born in Laurel Hill, Fla. to the late James Ellis Rogers and Doris Scott Rogers. She had been a resident of Vicksburg for the last 40 years.
Mrs. Malone was known as the “neighborhood mom” for Warrenton Heights Subdivision throughout the 80s and 90s. She participated in all of the children’s activities after school and on the weekends. Her duties ranged from being cheerleader coach to refereeing at the sandlot football games. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her husband, Melbern, to her birthplace of Laurel Hill, Fla. She also enjoyed decorating her home for Christmas and Halloween.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Malone was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard May Jr. She is survived by her husband, Melbern Malone of Vicksburg; five daughters, Melvina Kirk (Lee) of Memphis, Tenn., Jacqueline Lynn Malone of Pensacola, Fla., Tammy Rogers (Ben) of Brundidge, Ala., Tracey Shockey (Robbie) of Cumberland, Md., and Teresa Martinez (David) of Spanish Fort, Ala.; two sons, Art Swope (Bridgett) of Auburn, Ala. and Mel Malone (Amy) of Vicksburg; her brother, Jimmy Rogers (Mary) of Laurel Hill, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, including Brittney Porter of Vicksburg, and 10 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Evans Funeral Home, 1972 6th Street, Florala, Ala., with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the New Ebenezer Cemetery.
