Hutchins pitches PCA past Rebul

Garrett Hutchins allowed one run and struck out 10 batters in a complete game Tuesday night as Porters Chapel Academy’s baseball team beat Rebul Academy 4-1.

Brayden Ray doubled twice and drove in two runs for PCA (3-2), which pulled above .500 with its second consecutive victory.

Bradley McCullough and Leon Simms also had hits for the Eagles.

PCA will return to action Thursday at 6 p.m. when it goes on the road to play Canton Academy.

Vicksburg 8, Murrah 7

DeWayne Sims went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Gage Ederington was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Vicksburg past Murrah on Monday.

Chandler Luke also had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs for the Gators (1-2).

Vicksburg led 8-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh, then held on as Murrah scored three runs. Sims, Vicksburg’s shortstop, got a key out by throwing out Murrah’s Demarious Ragsdale at the plate on a ground ball with one out.

Vicksburg will play two home games this weekend at Bazinsky Field. It’ll host Clinton Friday at 7 p.m., and crosstown foe St. Aloysius on Saturday at 1 p.m.
