Culkin Water District has issued a boil water notice for all customers who get their drinking water from 712-1204 Newitt Vick Drive, all of Riverbend Road, Choctaw Trail, Choctaw Drive, Windy Lake Drive and Windy Lake Circle, located in Warren County.
Also, a boil water notice has been issued for customers who get their drinking water from 6801 Paxton Road all lots, located in Warren County.
Spokesperson Kadie Hearn of the Culkin Water District said in a press release this precautionary action was necessary because the system lost pressure due to a break in the water line.
When a water distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the system. Public health offiicials consider any system that has lost pressure contaminated until tests of the water prove otherwise.
As soon as pressure is restored to those customers affected, water system officials will begin collecting samples for testing and recommend that consumers vigorously boil their water for two minutes before it is consumed or use an alternate source for drinking and cooking, Hearn wrote.
