Ridgeland softball routs Missy Gators

Ridgeland scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and eight more in the fourth to beat Vicksburg High 15-1 Tuesday in softball.

Vicksburg committed 13 errors and only had one hit, a two-out single by Kayla Foster in the third inning. Its run came in the first inning, when Jazmine Green drew a bases-loaded walk.

Olivia Wilson had four RBIs for Ridgeland, and Nicole Richardson had three. Olivia Jones was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Warren Central sent 20 batters to the plate in the first inning Tuesday and scored 15 runs as it hammered Murrah in a Division 4-6A game in Jackson.

Brooke Patterson went 3-for-3, Megan Stewart had an RBI triple, and April Lynn hit a grand slam.

Four Warren Central pitchers — Patterson, Madison Wade, Logan Hardin and Kaylee Hoeft — threw one inning each. They combined to allow one hit and one walk, and struck out seven.

WC (3-4, 1-0 Division 4-6A) will play at Pearl Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
