Betty Catherine Foley Hearn

Betty Catherine Foley Hearn, 91, of Vicksburg, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg.

She was a loving mother, MawMaw, sister, aunt and friend. Betty was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the River Region Ladies Auxiliary, coached Biddy Ball at the YMCA, and played and coached ladies and girls softball for over 50 years. Betty helped establish the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association, Midget League and Girls Fast Pitch.

She worked many years in the school system, as a teacher assistant at Magnolia Speech School, and retired from Vicksburg Warren School District after 23 years serving as teacher assistant and cafeteria manager.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert W. Hearn of 69 years; her mother, Emma H. Foley; her father, Bernard J. Foley; two sisters, Mary Lee Brown and Annie Mae Kelly; three brothers, Bernard James Foley, Robert K. Foley and Charles C. Foley.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sara Hearn Baker of Vicksburg; her son, Jim Hearn (Babs) of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Michael Baker, Karen McKay, Ann Hambright and Tony Baker, all of Vicksburg, Chris Hearn of Covington, Ky., Ryan (Lori) Hearn of Laurel, and Allison (Schaeffer) Smith of Hattiesburg; twelve great grandchildren, Joshua McKay and Jamie McKay of Vicksburg, Catherine Lee Roy (Josh), Christine and Madison Baker of Vicksburg, Nathan and Zane Hearn of Covington, Ky., Brooke, Naomi and Kimberly Smith of Hattiesburg, and Libby and Alex of Laurel; and two great great grandchildren, Caetlyn and Dalton Roy of Vicksburg.

Services will be Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Baker, Tony Baker, Christopher Hearn, Ryan Hearn; great-grandson, Jamie McKay; and nephews, Chuck Brown and Bobby Foley.  Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughter, Karen McKay; great grandson, Joshua McKay; Tim Beatty, Paul Alderman, Mike Foley, Jack Leist, and members of Vicksburg Girls Softball Association, River Region Auxiliary and players of Shady Lawn softball team.
