James Edward Ragan Sr. died on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Merit Health River Region. He was 80.

Mr. Ragan was born on December 2, 1935, to the late Robertous and Lillie Bell Ragan. He was a long-standing member and deacon of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church #3. He retired after 20 years from the United States Air Force. He also retired as a heavy equipment operator from Lewis Miller Construction and Warren County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alice Ragan.

Survivors include his children, Kevin Ragan of Killeen, Texas, LaRue Ragan of East Palo Alto, Calif., Catina Reed of Vicksburg and James Edward Ragan Jr. of Madison; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Randle officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, March 31, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family present from 6 at 7 p.m.
