WC softball, tennis score wins

Brooke Patterson went 4-for-4 with a triple, double, four RBIs and three runs scored as Warren Central routed Greenville 16-0 Tuesday in fast-pitch softball.

The Lady Vikes (5-4, 2-0 Division 4-6A) scored in all five innings before the game ended via the mercy rule. Patterson tripled and scored in the first inning, had RBI singles in the second and third, and finished her big day with a two-run double in the fourth. She also stole two bases.

Sarah Kate Smith went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and two RBIs for Warren Central. Morgan Stewart doubled, scored one run and drove in another.

Warren Central is scheduled to play at Vicksburg Wednesday at 6 p.m.

WC tennis rebounds

to beat Madison-St. Joe

Warren Central’s tennis team bounced back from its first loss of the season by beating Madison-St. Joseph 4-3 Tuesday afternoon in Madison.

Alex Velazquez won 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 in boys singles, and the Vikings clinched the match by winning three of the five doubles points.

William Wooten and Matthew Register won the No. 1 boys doubles match 7-6, 6-0 and George Wilkerson and Brent Styles took the No. 2 point 6-0, 6-1. In No. 2 girls doubles, Madison Kendall and Skyler Gibson won 6-2, 6-1.

The Vikings are scheduled to play two more matches this week — Thursday against Brookhaven and Friday against Vicksburg. Both matches will be at Halls Ferry Park and will begin at 3:30 p.m.
