Funeral services for Mary Wiggins Givens will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Caples officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Givens died Friday, April 1, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 103. She was born in Omega, La., in Madison Parish, La., and moved to Vicksburg in 1922.   In 1946 she moved to Portland, Ore., where she went to work in the Navy Shipyard in Vancouver, Wash.

She later returned to Vicksburg and then moved to Chicago, where she married the late Daniel Givens. She lived and worked in Chicago for more than 40 years until her retirement when she returned to Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Martha Wiggins Harris, Elnora Brown Kelly, Pearline Wiggins and Irene Wiggins Scott; and brothers, Abe Wiggins Sr. and Perry Wiggins, Henry Wiggins and Lieutenant Wiggins

She is survived by her sister, Lillie Wiggins Scott of Sondheimer, La.; brother, Abe Wiggins Jr. of Sondheimer, La.; and other family members.
