Loyd “Jack” Phelps died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Covenant Health and Rehab. He was 76.

Born in Drew, he was the son of the late Loyd Phelps Sr. and Opal Joyce Brown Phelps. He was a veteran of the Army. Mr. Phelps was a former employee of Koestler’s Bakery and a longtime employee of Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by one son, Loyd Phelps III; a daughter, Tracy Phelps; two sisters, Brenda Aders (Ron) and Joy Collins; and a brother, Robert Phelps (Ramonda).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Abney Phelps; a brother, Bobbie Dale Phelps; and a sister, Mary Ellen Miller.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home with pastor Roger Cresswell of Berachah Church officiating.

Visitation will from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Burial will be at Redbone United Methodist Church Cemetery.
