Sherry Lynn (Brock) Jarrell

Sherry Lynn (Brock) Jarrell died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center.  She was 68.

Mrs. Jarrell was born in Tylertown to the late S.V. and Lillie Mae Pigott Brock. She graduated in 1965 from Redwood High School, where she was a star player for the Redwood Rockets basketball team. She was also a graduate of Vicksburg College.

She retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi Valley Division after 32 years of service, where she worked as an administrative assistant. She also spent six months in Kuwait as a part of Operation Desert Storm, assisting with the restoration of Kuwait.

Mrs. Jarrell enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, arts and crafts, gardening, and playing pokeno with her friends from work. She also had a passion for traveling.  She was a member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry J. Brock.

She is survived by her husband, Ross Jarrell, Jr. of Vicksburg, a daughter Lisa Pearson Reid (Eric) of Fillmore, Utah, a son, Jim V. Pearson, Jr. (Casey) of Vicksburg, four grandchildren, Lillie Reid and Brooklin Reid of Fillmore, Utah, and Ariel Self and Adison Pearson, both of Vicksburg; a brother, David S. Brock (Terry) of Vicksburg; a sister-in-law, Kathy Brock of Vicksburg; and nieces and other extended family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home with pastor Tyler Pigott officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Knoxo Cemetery in Knoxo.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Eric Reid, William Pearson, Lee Kilburn, John Irving Simmons, Mike Coomes,  Jerry Luckett, and Ron Pownall Sr .
