ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Patricia Louise Munn of Albuquerque passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the age of 84.

Pat was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to parents Walter and Louise Best of Vicksburg. She grew up as the elder of two daughters and graduated Carr Central High School in Vicksburg. She attended the University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1953.

In 1952, she married her college sweetheart, Frank Oldham Munn, of Birmingham, Ala., at Fort Benning, Ga. As an Army wife and mother, she traveled and raised two children around the country and the world.

After the death of her husband in 1975, Pat returned to school and graduated from the University of Albuquerque with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1979. She founded several businesses and held responsible management positions in the private sector. Pat was especially proud of her tenure starting in 1981 as CFO at Futures for Children, a non-profit organization that empowered American Indian youth through leadership development, mentoring, and community service to improve the quality of educational and life experiences. Pat retired in 1996, and spent much of the rest of her life providing personal and estate accounting services to her many friends and acquaintances.

Pat also was active in the community, serving on the board of directors of the Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center in the early 1980s.

Pat is survived by her two sons, Skip Munn of Smyrna, Tenn.; and Brian Munn of Albuquerque; her sister, Jean Best Middleton, of Jearoldstown, Tenn.; and her grandchildren, Haley Munn of Smyrna, Tenn; and Austin Munn of Albuquerque.

Her cremation was in the care of the Neptune Society of Albuquerque. Her cremated remains will be interred alongside her husband at a service at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA in Fall 2016.
