Vicksburg police are investigating the shooting of a juvenile on Bodley Street early Friday evening.
Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said officers were called to Bodley during about shots fired in the area. Police officers arrived to find shell casings on the ground, but no one hurt.
Police later received a call that a juvenile had been shot in the leg and taken by a private vehicle to Merit Health River Region Medical Center, where he was being treated in the hospital emergency room, Williams said.
Williams later said the juvenile had been shot at least once in each leg.
Bodley Street is located off of Clay Street between Second North and Fillmore streets.
A visitor to the River Region ER reported to The Vicksburg Post that the ER was on lockdown, but a hospital spokesman denied that. The victim has not been identified. His condition was not available.
Williams said police have no suspects at this time.
No other information was available at press time.
