Jeanette Barnes Long went home to be with her heavenly father Saturday, April 23, 2016. She died at Merit Health River Region Hospital in Vicksburg. She was 89.

Jeanette was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Bruce to Ernest Ralph and Dora Ann Morgan Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James N. Long; her brothers, John Henry Barnes, Ernest Barnes and P.J. Barnes; and her sisters, Clara Cleveland, Sue Keene and Ruth Doty.

Jeanette is survived by her brother-in-law, Jimmy (Grace) Long of Jackson; her sisters-in-law, Jean Long of Clinton and Shirley Long of Collierville, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, Jeanette owned and operated Long’s Grocery Store in Vicksburg.

Mrs. Long was a longtime faithful member of Highland Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
