Funeral services for Lucy S. Sims will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Vicksburg Auditorium at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sims of Vicksburg died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center.  She was 71.

She was a homemaker and  a member of the House of Jacob Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Pinkie Sweet Searcy; husband, Albert Sims; brothers, Augustus Searcy, Frank Searcy and Freddie Searcy; and sisters, Sadie Bradley and Floris Tee Lewis.

Survivors include two sons, George Spratley and Willie Spratley, both of Vicksburg; her daughter, Edna Spratley Brooks of Vicksburg; brother, David Searcy of  Vicksburg; and sisters, Rosie Smith of Chicago, Luettica “Sug” Richardson of Austin, Texas, and Maggie Brown of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews , cousins and other relatives and friends.
