Learn to Swim

Registration for the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program will be held at City Pool May 11-13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Another sign-up session will be held May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The program is open to people ages 3 and up, and adults are welcome as well.

The cost of the program is $12 per student, and registration must be made in person. All payments are due at the time of registration. Because of high demand, parents of young children are encouraged to sign up early on May 11.

WC soccer tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s boys varsity soccer team will be held May 9 and 10, at 4 p.m. each day, on the practice field adjacent to Mississippi 27. The tryouts are for players in grades 7-12. All players must wear shin guards, and have a current physical and a parental consent form. All participants must also sign up on the soccer practice field on May 5, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., to get the appropriate paperwork. For more information, call coach Greg Head at 601-631-1257.

Play 2 Wynn basketball

The 14th annual Play 2 Wynn Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 20-24 at Vicksburg High School. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-17, and the registration is $100. It will be under the direction of Donna Brown-Wynn, a Vicksburg native who played and coached at Mississippi State and Belmont University.

Fuzzy Johnson baseball

Registration for the 2016 season of the Fuzzy Johnson Baseball League is now open. The league is open to children ages 5-14, and will include three age groups. Registration is open at the Mission 66 baseball field and Jackson Street Gym. For more information, call Ernest Galloway at 601-618-4455.

Packers registration

The Vicksburg Packers youth football and cheer training camp and registration will be held each Monday and Thursday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Vicksburg Junior High football stadium on Baldwin Ferry Road. Registration is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 12. Players and cheerleaders must not turn 13 before Aug. 1. There will be teams for players 8-, 10- and 12-and-under.

Bubba Mims golf tournament

Porters Chapel Academy will host the 12th annual Bubba Mims Memorial Golf Classic May 11 at Vicksburg Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble and will begin at 1 p.m.
