Zach Hutchinson’s two-run double in the third inning gave Wayne Academy the lead for good, and it went on to beat Tallulah Academy 6-3 Wednesday in Game 1 of an MAIS Class AA baseball playoff series in Tallulah.

Alan Kivett singled, walked twice and scored two runs in the first two innings as Tallulah (18-7-1) took a 3-2 lead. Wayne Academy scored three times in the third to go in front, however, and tacked on one more insurance run in the sixth.

Tallulah committed eight errors in the game, and Kivett’s two-out single in the sixth inning was the team’s only hit.
