Funeral services for Emma C. Thomas will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kemp Burley. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home in charge.

Emma C. Thomas died Tuesday, May 3, in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was 72. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Georgia Cobbins Battle; son, Timothy Kent Johnson; daughter, Jeanette Thomas; brothers, Frank Cobbins, Elbert Cobbins, Clifton Cobbins, Jessie Cobbins, Earl Cobbins, Robert Cobbins, and Richard Cobbins; and sister, Lucille Cobbins.

She is survived by five sons, Larry Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Claude Berry, Paul Thomas and James Thomas; four daughters, Eloise Thomas, Janice Thomas, and Lola Thomas, all of Vicksburg, and Shirley Brown of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Brad Cobbins of Isola and Eugene Cobbins of New York; five sisters, Pearlie Cobbins and Maggie Cobbins, both of Isola, Margaret Davis, Joyce Cobbins, and Nellie Cobbins all of Chicago, Ill.; 50 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
