Nellie Mae Terry Guynes

Mrs. Nellie M. Guynes died May 4, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg after a lengthy illness. She was 87 years old.
Nell was born in Searcy County, Arkansas on September 18, 1928, to Roscoe and Grace Terry and was raised in California. She married Thomas Luther Guynes Jr. in Visalia, California in 1946. She and Tom raised three children and settled in Vicksburg in the early 1970s. Nell worked at the Valley Department Store and sold Avon products for many years in Vicksburg. She loved doing all kinds of needlework, crafts, antiquing and working in her flower garden. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene R. Terry. She is survived by sons, Ronald Guynes of Douglasville, Pa., and Terry Guynes (Beth) of Vicksburg; a daughter, Tommie Jean Sanders of Clinton; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
The family would like to thank the staff of Belmont Gardens and Vicksburg Convalescence Home for their care and attention during Nell’s illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with Brother Jackie Banes officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Sanders, Michael Guynes, Matt Guynes, Jerry Maddox, Randy Brown and Bryne Callegan.
