A Warren County man was killed early Monday morning when he was thrown from his motorcycle after it struck a tree on Freetown Road near the intersection of Freetown and Pennebaker Road, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Tommy Ray Warner, 38, 2756 Birdsong Road, was on his way to work and traveling westbound on Freetown Road about 5:34 a.m. when his 2002 Suzuki motorcycle hit the tree, which was blocking the road, Pace said. He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey, and his body was sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an examination.

“Neighbors we talked to who live in the area said the tree had just fallen minutes before he hit it,” Pace said.

He said the crash is under investigation by sheriff’s deputy Ronnie Fuller and investigator Stacy Rollinson who is an accident reconstructionist for the sheriff’s department.
