Evelyn “Jeannie Baby” Thomas

Evelyn “Jeannie Baby” Thomas of Vicksburg died May 18, 2016, at Promise Hospital. She was 72.

Mrs. Thomas was born July 20, 1943, in Vicksburg. She was a daughter of the late the Rev. Issac and Evelyn Barnes Thomas.

She was a member of New Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

She received her early education at McIntyre Elementary School. She was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and furthered her education at Jackson State University.

She was married to the late Paul Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Issac and Evelyn Barnes Thomas; and two sisters, Mirian Norwood and Eunice Webster.

Survivors include her daughter, Monieke Howard of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including her special friend and caregiver, Leroy Gillum.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at New Mt. Pilgrim M. B. Church, 501 N. Poplar St., with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
