Henry and Gertrude Butler of New Orleans announce the engagement of their daughter, Shamelha Pernell, to Joseph Brown, the son of Delphine Taylor of Vicksburg and the late Joe Brown.

Miss Pernell is the granddaughter of the late Beatrica Collins.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Sarah T. Reed High School in New Orleans, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the dance team.

She also attended Hinds Community College.

The groom-elect attended Warren Central High School.

The wedding will be held at 6 p.m. May 28, 2016, at the New Orleans Cruise in New Orleans and a reception will follow at the same location.
