Vaiden “V.O.” Martin

Vaiden “V.O.” Martin, 88, died May 27, 2015, in Vicksburg.

He was born in Yazoo County to the late V.C. and Lurline Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Lewis Martin; daughters, Pam (Joe) Powers of Hattiesburg, Deborah (Charlie) Whitefield of Lebanon, Tenn., and Judy (Victor) Mello of Dallas, Ga.; son, Vaiden L. Martin of Clinton; three grandchildren, Frank Burrell of Colorado, Jessica Bibler of Georgia and Kelsey Whitefield of Tennessee; six grandchildren, Alex, Peyton, Max, Cole, Adalyn, and Logan; and three great-great-grandchildren, Dawson, Oakley and Lyric; sister, Dot Aaron of Vicksburg; and brothers, L.H. Martin and Bill Martin of Yazoo County.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Hillman; brothers, Harold and Hugh Martin and a sister, Martha Mae Klaus.

Vaiden was a long time member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and went on to work for Miller Transporters Inc. where he retired after 38 years of service.

Visitation will be Monday, May 30, 2016 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with the service immediately following at Stricklin-King Funeral Home, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
