Agnes Miller Nelson died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at her home in Vicksburg.
She was 89 years old. Mrs. Nelson was born Oct. 7, 1926, on Richland Plantation in Waterproof, La. She graduated from Water Proof High School and Louisiana Tech, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
She has been a resident of Vicksburg for 66 years. She taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Nelson Sr.; parents, David Franklin Miller and Emily Maher Miller; sisters, Emily Miller, Mary Lyle Roberson, Frances Mack, Elizabeth Anders and Drake Wade; and brothers, David Miller, Fred Miller, Billie Miller, Dalton Miller and Ed Miller.
She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Nelson Jr. of Vicksburg; daughter, Linda Nelson Denney of Austin,Texas; grandson, John Nelson Denney of Dallas; granddaughter, Rebecca Ann McCormick (Scott), and great-grandson Hyland McCormick, all of Austin, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday June 4, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11 a.m,. with graveside in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with Deacon Richard Nelson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bob Steinriede, Don Nelson, Leo Nelson, Burton Wade, Andy Anders, Mark Miller, David Miller, and Lyle Miller.
