Thurman Louis Branning

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thurman Louis Branning Jr., 69, passed away after a long battle with cancer May 31, 2016.

A native of Vicksburg, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He attended St. Aloysius School and a member of the St. Aloysius band and later transferred to H.V. Cooper High School, where he graduated. He attended Hinds Community College and later transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi.

Louis is survived by his wife, Shelley Rothman-Branning; children, Chris Branning (Nicole), Philip Branning, Paul Branning, Camille Branning, Jonathan Branning, and Benjamin Branning; sisters, Mary Scarbrough (Ed) and Carol Phillips; and granddaughter, Savannah Branning.

A memorial service to honor his life was held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Temple Israel in Memphis.

Memorials may be sent either to Temple Israel, Wings Cancer Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, Memphis.
