Virginia Nicholls McCollum

AUSTIN, Texas — Virginia Nicholls McCollum, 82, died on June 9, 2016.

Mrs. McCollum was born Nov. 1933 in Vicksburg.

She married Richard E. “Dick” McCollum in 1954 in Vicksburg.

She and her family lived in Venezuela until Dick retired from Creole Petroleum Corporation in 1975, then they moved to Austin.

She also lived in Amarillo, Texas, from 1989 until 2003 before returning to Austin.

She belonged to Children of the American Revolution as a child, and was a founding member of the Balcones Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Austin, Texas, in 1976.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Westlake for their loving care and assistance.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband in January 2000.

Survivors include her son, Richard McCollum of Austin; daughter, Helen Wight; grandson, Kyle Wight of Lakeway; and sister, Nancy McKesson of Denver.

Committal of the ashes will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg at a later date.
