A Warren County man was injured when two pit bulls attacked his small dog last week.

The man was outside his home when a neighbor’s pit bulls attacked and eventually killed his small dog, Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society director Georgia Lynn said.

The man tried to break up the dogs but was attacked by the pit bulls, she said, and he was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries.

The dogs’ owner was not home at the time, she said, but a relative offered to take the dog.

Sheriff Martin Pace said a court order was obtained for the capture of the dog, but would not comment any further because the investigation is still pending and criminal charges could be filed.
