David “D.L.” Thomas died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at his home. He was 65.

He was born Jan. 3, 1951, in Warren County. He was a member of China Grove M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Dee Lee Thomas; his wife, Maggie Lean Crumb Thomas; one brother, Tommy Lee Thomas; two sisters, Shirley “Sarah Ann” Wilson and Rosie Lee Turner.

He is survived by his son, Dion (Keisha) Crump of Vicksburg; a daughter, Yshaunda Crump of Vicksburg; four sisters, Cellastine Thomas, Betty Butler, Freddie Mitchell, all of Vicksburg, and Earnestine Thomas of Chicago; one brother, Roger Thomas of Oak Park, Ill.; six grandchildren, Maggie Demby, Wendisha Williams, Asia Marshall, D’Kobe Crump, D’Kasei Crump and KaDarius Coleman; two aunts, Annie Mae Gibson and Christine Minder both of Vicksburg; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; also a special friend, Ruby Williams.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Andrew Cook officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery on Halls Ferry Road.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
