Eleanor Grant Scott Price

Eleanor Grant Scott Price died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Vicksburg at the age of 91.

Mrs. Price was born June 28, 1925, in Bassett, Nebraska to parents, Leo Vance and Sarah Helen Berryman Scott. In 1937 the Scott family moved from Nebraska to the Culkin Community of Warren County.

Eleanor graduated from Culkin Academy in 1943 and All Saints’ Episcopal College in 1945.

On August 1, 1945, Eleanor married Adelbert William (Jack) Price. A few years later they built their home in south Warren County where they raised their three sons and she resided for the remainder of her life.

She is survived by sons, Dr. Adelbert William Price Jr., Dr. James Grant Price (Cassandra), and Dr. Richard E. Price (Susan), all of Vicksburg; and a sister, Helen Scott Emrick of Winfield, Kan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jack, who died on February 5, 1991, Eleanor was predeceased by a great-grandchild, Sarah Katherine Nieto, and siblings, Alice Scott Pronger, Carolyn Scott Kitchens, James Edwin Scott, John Berryman Scott and Edith Scott Miller.

Eleanor was an active and faithful member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church since 1937, serving many years as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, Altar Guild member, including guild directress, and dedicated member of the Episcopal Church Women.

She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as Regent of Ashmead Chapter, and held various leadership positions in the Fort St. Pierre Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Colonists, Magnolia Chapter of the Mayflower Society, and Thomas Minor Society.

Eleanor is also survived by grandchildren, Allison Price Nieto (Rudolph) of Cumming, Ga., Robin Price Toups (Chad) of Baton Rouge, Christopher Grant Price of Vicksburg, Amanda Price Monti (John Thomas) of Oakland, Mich. and Carey Daniel Price (Amanda) of Vicksburg. Surviving great-grandchildren are Whitney Leigh Nieto, Grant Joseph Toups, Annadele Scott Toups, John Harrison Monti, James William Toups, Judah William Nieto and Eleanor Claire Monti.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 8, at Glenwood Funeral Home. Services will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. with the Very Reverend Billie Abraham, rector, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Price, Carey Price, Rudolph Nieto, Chad Toups, John Monti, John Scott Jr. and Terry Guynes.
