Boat hits Eagle Lake pier, 3 injured

Three people were injured Friday afternoon when their boat went under the pier at their home on Eagle Lake while trying to dock after an afternoon on the water.

According to information from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Friday. The two adults and a 2-year-old child received what were called minor injuries.

The woman and the child were taken by ambulance to Merit Health River Region Medical Center, while the man drove himself to the hospital.

Information on their conditions was unavailable.

The accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks, which is responsible for law enforcement on state rivers and lakes.

The adults and the 2-year-old were in the boat, which was towing two other children on a tube.

As the man was maneuvering the boat toward the pier, it went under the structure, injuring the adults and the 2-year-old and wedging the boat under the dock.
