Louis R. Worthy Sr. died Friday, July 8, 2016. He was 91.
He was the son of the late Louis Montgomery Worthy and Myrtle Beatrice Ladd Worthy. Born in Greenville, he had been a resident of Warren County most of his life.
Mr. Worthy was a retired heavy equipment operator and shift supervisor for the U. S. Corps Engineers, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the W. G. Paxton Masonic Lodge and the Living Water Christian Fellowship.
He is survived by three daughters, Beatrice Stephens (Dan) of Dayton, Texas, Lena Rae Houston (Jerry) of Minden, La., and Linda Sue Houston (John) of Vicksburg; a son, Louis R. “Blackie” Worthy Jr. (Sherry “Sam”) of Vicksburg; two sisters, Mary Rose Phillips and Betty A. Worthy, both of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Forbes Worthy; two sisters, Susie Ward and Alice Patricia Worthy; and a brother, Billy Worthy.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Doyle Moulder, pastor of the Living Water Christian Fellowship, officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service.
Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Living Water Christian Fellowship, 2075 Culkin Road, Vicksburg, MS 39183.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Worthy, Glen Worthy, Johnny Phillips, Butch Phillips, Austin Phillips and James Gill. Honorary pallbearers will be David Miller, James McCartney and employees of the Corps of Engineers mat sinking Unit.
