St. Al football camp

St. Aloysius will host a youth football camp on July 27, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Balzli Field. The camp is for children ages 12 and under, and the cost is $40 per person. Campers must have cleats, a T-shirt and shorts. For more information, call St. Al coach BJ Smithhart at 601-529-1997.

VSO registration open

Registration for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s fall season is now open online at vsosoccer.org. There are leagues for children ages 4-14, and the registration fee ranges from $60 to $90 depending on age. Early bird registration is available until July 31 and comes with a $5 discount. Open registration continues until Aug. 21, and the season begins Sept. 5.

VCC Junior Golf Camp

The Vicksburg Country Club will host its junior golf, tennis and swim camp throughout the summer. Camps for children ages 9 and older will be held July 26-29, and for children ages 8 and under July 19-21 and Aug. 2-5. The camps will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and include golf and tennis activities followed by swimming in the VCC pool. The cost of the camp is $150 for the week for non-VCC members.

VHS softball alumni game

Vicksburg High School’s softball team will host an alumni game on Saturday, July 16 at the Softball Swamp field on Army Navy Drive. The alumni game will begin at 7 p.m., and will be preceded by a home run derby at 6 p.m.

The game is open to all former VHS slow- and fast-pitch softball players. The registration fee to play is $20, and registration will begin at 5 p.m. There is a $2 admission charge for fans.

Gator Golf Classic

The inaugural Gator Golf Classic, a tournament to benefit the Vicksburg High School baseball program, is scheduled for Aug. 5 at Clear Creek Golf Course. Registration for the two-person scramble is $150 per team, or $90 for an individual. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100, $225 and $500.

Sign-in for the tournament will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 5, and golfing starts at 1 with a shotgun start. An awards ceremony and dinner will follow at the Clear Creek clubhouse. A grand prize of two YETI coolers will be awarded, and there are also prizes for the top three finishers in each flight, for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
