Auto break-ins reported in Wisconsin Avenue area

A watch and an undetermined amount of money were the only items taken in a rash of automobile break-ins late occurring Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning in a residential area between Wisconsin Avenue and Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

A total of 11 cars parked on Wisconsin, John Allen Street, Harriet Drive, Westover Drive and Groome Drive, were broken into, she said, adding with one exception all the vehicles were unlocked. The break-ins were reported between 6:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The watch and money were reported taken about 6:30 a.m. from a 2015 Dodge Charger parked in the 100 block of Westover Drive off Halls Ferry Road. The other cars were reported to have been rummaged through but nothing taken.

Cigars, cigarettes taken from grocery

An unknown amount of cigars and cigarettes were reported taken during a burglary at Sky Farm Grocery, 1814 Sky Farm Ave., about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
