Reverend Billy Houston Bennett Sr., age 77, passed away at his residence on July 20, 2016.

He was born on November 23, 1938, in Camden, Ark., to the late Mr. Porter Bennett and Mrs. Cora Bennett. In 1973 he married Ms. Ora Mason in Los Angeles, Calif., united for over 42 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Porter Bennett Jr. and A. J. Bennett; a sister, Queenesther Brown; and a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Dudley.

Survivors include his wife, Ora Bennett of Vicksburg; one son, Billy Bennett Jr. of Vicksburg; a stepson, Anthony Bennett of Las Vegas, Nev.; four daughters, Tenesha Bennett of Vicksburg, Dorothy Anderson and Candy Stevens of Las Vegas, Nev., and Stephanie Bennett of Arkansas; three sisters, Eleanor Anthony of Anthonyville, Ark., Mary Louise Armstrong of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jannie Scott of Camden, Ark.; one brother, Samuel J. Bennett of Los Angeles, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives including the Hagan, Preacely, Warner, Mason, Thomas, Taylor, West, Brown and Tucker families. Special friends were the Rev. Ollie Rush, Brother John Jones, Brother Harold Gaines and Sister Dorothy Miles.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church, 406 Klein St.

Burial will follow at City of Vicksburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Jefferson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m.
